IWDS 2026 – International Window and Door Summit returns as a key knowledge platform shaping the future of the built environment, bringing together global experts, innovators, and industry leaders across windows, doors, and sun shading systems.

Under the theme “Windows & Shading Empower Low-Carbon Buildings, Technology Forges a Green Future,” this year’s summit places sustainability and technological advancement at the core of industry development. As buildings account for a significant share of global energy consumption, IWDS 2026 will explore how intelligent façade solutions and advanced shading technologies can actively contribute to reducing carbon footprints while enhancing comfort, efficiency, and design performance.

Supported by the German Energy Center & College (GECC), the conference will offer forward-looking insights into the role of sun shading and façade systems in achieving low-carbon building goals. Key topics will include sustainable value and assessment criteria for shading systems, practical pathways to economic and environmental success through sun protection, and the measurable impact of shading strategies on building performance. In addition, discussions will address the integration of innovative technologies into outdoor shading solutions, unlocking new opportunities for energy-efficient applications.

Expanding beyond shading, the summit will also feature perspectives from the door and gate sector, highlighting its evolving role within the broader sustainable building ecosystem.

Confirmed speakers include Rolf Demmler, China Ambassador of German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB); Thomas Fritzsche, Founder, Chief Architect, Thomas Fritzsche Architects (TFA); Li Zhengrong, Professor & PhD Supervisor, School of Mechanical and Energy Engineering, Tongji University; Director, Institute of HAVC, Tongji University and Xu Qiang, Senior Chief Engineer at the Shanghai Research Institute of Building Sciences; Professor-level Senior Engineer; State Council Special Allowance Expert; Shanghai Leading Talent in Science and Technology; National Model Worker of the Housing and Urban-Rural Development System.

IWDS 2026 is more than a conference—it is a meeting point for ideas, collaboration, and innovation. By connecting global expertise with regional market insights, it aims to inspire actionable solutions and accelerate the transition toward greener, smarter, and more sustainable buildings.
